After you send the form
What happens next
No call centre, no sales script, and nothing to pay before you know where you stand.
1
We get in touch
Usually the same working day. We will ask a few questions about what happened and what the device has done since β both matter more than the model number.
2
Free diagnosis
Bring the device in or send it to us. We find out what has actually failed, using read-only methods that cannot make things worse.
3
An honest answer and a fixed quote
We tell you what is recoverable, what is not, and exactly what it costs. If we think your data is unrecoverable, we say so rather than sell you an attempt.
4
You decide
Go ahead, or collect your device and pay nothing. If you proceed and we fail to recover your data, you still pay nothing for the attempt.
Before you bring it in
Five things that protect your chances
Most of the damage we cannot undo happens after the failure, not during it. If your device has just failed, this is the part that matters.
β οΈ Stop using the device nowEvery minute a physically failing drive stays powered is another chance for a damaged head to score the platters. If it is clicking, beeping, grinding, or was dropped β switch it off and leave it off.
- Do not run recovery software on a drive that is making noise or was physically damaged. Software assumes healthy hardware and will drive a failing disk to read repeatedly, often finishing it off.
- Do not open the drive. A single dust particle on a platter is enough. Drives are opened in our cleanroom for a reason, and a drive that has been opened elsewhere is materially harder to recover.
- Do not put it in the freezer. This advice circulates widely and it is wrong β condensation on the platters causes damage that was not there before.
- Do not reformat, chkdsk or "repair" when prompted. If Windows offers to format the drive, decline. Those operations write to the disk, and writing is what destroys recoverable data.
- Bring the enclosure and power adapter for external drives and NAS units. Sometimes the fault is in the enclosure or the power supply, not the drive at all β which is a much cheaper outcome for you.
π‘ If you have already done some of theseTell us. It is not a reason to be embarrassed and it will not change how we treat the job β but it genuinely changes what we look for, and knowing saves time.

Answers
Common questions before getting in touch
Do I need an appointment?+
Not for dropping a device off during office hours β Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 6:30pm. Weekends and public holidays are by appointment, so message us first. If your situation is urgent, call rather than use the form.
Is the diagnosis really free?+
Yes. We assess the device, identify the fault and tell you what is recoverable and what it will cost, at no charge and with no obligation to proceed. If you decide not to go ahead, you collect your device and owe nothing.
What if you cannot recover my data?+
For logical recoveries you pay only if we recover your data. Physically failed drives that need donor parts carry a small non-refundable parts deposit of $80 to $250 by drive model, always shown up front. Any other third-party cost such as an additional donor drive, and we would agree that with you in advance β never after the fact.
Can you tell me the price over the phone?+
We can give you a range, and our cost guide sets out the typical bands. We cannot give you a firm figure without seeing the device, because the same symptom can have very different causes. Anyone quoting a fixed price sight-unseen is guessing.
